“The Regulators of Our Physiology are Embedded in Relationships”

This day-long educational and experiential workshop will present a model for understanding and working with complex trauma. Through the lens of psychobiology, we will explore the interpersonal nature of our nervous systems in support of recovering from the hidden relational traumas that have affected us throughout our lives.  This workshop is designed to help us identify the obstacles in the way of our clients’ recovery, as well as our own unresolved triggers as helping professionals.  A body-mind perspective will provide an effective base for skills designed to resolve shame & developmental trauma

We will discuss and explore:

  • The Interpersonal Nature of Developmental Psychology: The “Social Brain”
  • The Differences between “Shock” and “Developmental” Trauma
  • Healthy vs Toxic Shame: The function and dysfunction of shame dynamics
  • Shame as the underlying mechanism of developmental trauma, and various disorders
  • Inquiry into our own developmental challenges and unresolved toxic shame
  • Self-help and therapeutic skills designed to shift shame dynamics and heal our social brain (support greater connection, empowerment and healthy relationships)

This workshop is designed for:

  • Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Social Workers and Counselors
  • Educators
  • Doctors and Nurses, particularly early child care
  • Alternative Health Care Professionals
  • Parents
  • Coaches
  • Anyone interested in learning a new perspective on developmental trauma, shame and relationships
