Self-Care for Helpers: A Body–Mind Approach

Are you a helper who is dealing with stress, tension, exhaustion, fatigue, pain, poor health?  Do you find yourself turning to negative coping strategies like overeating, smoking, drinking, watching too much TV, zoning out on the internet or your phone?  Do you have less energy and time to focus on your own fulfillment, happiness and health – your own life?

Yes, even in Hawaii helpers get burned out!  Come learn about what’s happening inside your brain and body as you deal with “compassion fatigue”.  Being a helper can be a deeply rewarding occupation – but it can also threaten our health and well-being.

This educational and experiential workshop will empower you with a greater understanding of how the stress of your job/role affects your health and well-being, as well as basic tools for managing your stress and increasing your resiliency.

Based on cutting-edge brain science, in an easy-to-understand format, you will learn:
·      A Body-Mind perspective on stress, illness and health
·      How chronic stress affects our brains, bodies and relationships
·      Why self-care for helpers is essential
·      Body-Mind approaches for managing stress and readjusting old patterns
·      Self-care exercises to help us build healing resources necessary for our jobs, relationships and lives
