Title: Introduction to Psychopathology (PSY 430)

Description: An overview of sociocultural views and scientific theories of normalcy and deviance. The major psychological, cognitive, and behavioral disorders and their classification are examined.
Learning Outcomes: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the following:
- The history of attempts to understand abnormal behavior.
- The concepts of abnormality in its various forms. Such concepts will include biological, behavior, social, interpersonal and intrapsychic models.
- The concept of causation (or antecedents) in connection with abnormal behavio.
- Current diagnostic systems i.e. the DSM IV TR 5 Axis system.
